Here's a short peek into our lives here on the upside down side of the world - not much different from the upside up life! We both documented our lives with a camera for a day, here's Jo's typical day:
 
Alarm went off the usual time at 7.15am but as I need a good 15 minutes to get up I just pressed the snooze (good old snooze, couldn't live without it!) and turned my back. The annoying thing about snooze is that it keeps going
off every five minutes... Mornings are not my best time and at 7.30 I climbed out of bed, grumpy and groaning. Need a shower to wake me up! After all those months sleeping in the car and sneaking showers on campsites I can honestly say that I'd be happy to pay our weekly rent just for the use of that shower - it's brand new, hot and has good pressure. Heavenly!

it's just so hard to get up...

I don't eat breakfast or wear much makeup so by 8am I'm usually on my bike, driving through the beautiful Wellington waterfront towards the city centre. Today I started off covering for PA of Dept of Labour's Finance Director. Sounds like a job that might be busy but it isn't and I usually do some very light admin, copying stuff, answering the odd call and taking messages. At 10am I moved over to my other office, where I work most of the time. Some light admin again and it's time for lunch! I skipped the eating part today and headed for the gym downstairs. I got a membership for this gym just because of the fact it is downstairs - no excuses of not
having time, it being too far away etc. I spent the afternoon copying some leases and filing stuff - not the most exciting stuff but hey, pays the bills.

On yer bike!

Julien had an all day team meeting at work and jeans and T-shirts were allowed although it wasn't a Friday. Maybe
because of that his team treated the day as a Friday and stayed for drinks. I got invited for a quick drink as well and this really is the only Kiwi part of my day - Kiwis drink in the office on Fridays (and apparently sometimes during the week)! This is something I've never seen in Europe - people bring bottles of wine and beer to work on Friday, cork them at around 4.30pm and everybody stays for a drink instead of going to the pub. Very economic!
Cinema tickets are half price on Tuesdays so we went to see "21" (was an ok movie) and after that it was home time again, cooked dinner and back in bed by 10pm.
Voici un aperçu de ce qui est désormais notre train train quotidien sur Wellington. Pas vraiment différent de notre vie dans l'hémisphère Nord...Métro...Boulot...Dodo! On a décidé de prendre des photos de nous lors d'une journée typique afin de "documenter notre vie"

Le réveil sonne a 7.15, après la douche et le petit dej, on part tous les deux en vélo direction le centre des affaires de la ville. Un petit tour qui prend environ 15 minutes sur le port de Wellington. Une fois au boulot, nos vies sont bien différentes, Jo a un boulot tranquille qu'elle trouve même un peu chiant parce qu'elle n'a pas grand chose à faire à part rentrer des donnés sur ordinateur, classer de la paperasse et faire des photocopies. Du coup elle a encore plein d'énergie pour aller à la gym durant sa pause déjeuner ou en fin d'après-midi. Julien quand à lui a un boulot beaucoup plus interessant et un peu plus stressant. Il est responsable du recrutement pour le Ministere du Logement sur tout le territoire Néo Zélandais. Il est chargé de créer des annonces, les mettre en ligne sur différents site internet ainsi que les journaux locaux et nationaux. Une fois la partie recrutment terminée, il se charge de créer les contrats pour les employés.

Working away

Un truc bien sympa en Nouvelle Zélande le vendredi, c'est que tout le monde termine le boulot environ 1 heure plus tot et tout le monde prend un verre ou deux au boulot, histoire de se décontracter un peu. C'est plutôt cool de boire un verre avec ses collègues de boulot toutes les semaines, ça permet de les voir sous un angle différent et de les connaitre un peu mieux. Du coup chaque semaine quelqu'un part au boulot avec sa bouteille de vin ou son pack de bière sous le bras. C'est vraiment différent de ce qui ce fait dans l'hémisphère du Nord ou tout du mojns en Europe.

Maintenant qu'on gagne un peu d'argent et qu'on sait que nous serons sur Wellington que pour quelques mois, on essaie d'en profiter au maximum donc il n'est pas rare en fin de journée d'aller boire un coup dans un bar, aller manger au restaurant ou encore aller voir un film au ciné. Le Mardi, les scéances sont a moitié prix, $10 soit environ 5 euros pour aller voir un film, c'est plutôt pas cher. Le soir passé 22 heures on retourne dans notre chambre pour une longue nuit de sommeil avant le début d'une autre et longue journée.
