Saturday morning, we were 9 people present for a church service at the Gold Nest Hotel just a short walk from the Gold Crest where I was staying. This was the first time in a longtime that services were held anywhere but in a home, and it made the service a bit more special. We sang hymns accompanied by a CD played on my laptop, after which I gave some news and announcements and then a sermon on the subject of peace, both interior and exterior. After the service we had coffee and snacks, and then a round table discussion of planning for the Feast and for the future of the work of the Church on Mauritius. It was a lively and useful discussion and I believe we were all encouraged and excited at the possibilities that are presenting themselves. To finish off our time together I showed a video of the long summer 2006 trip I had made with my family, and which had included a visit to Mauritius.
We took our leave about 2:00 pm and went our separate ways. I had dinner with one of the members on the Caudan waterfront in Port Louis, the capital city where there is a wonderful and inexpensive Indian restaurant right on the water.
