This morning, I prepared for the meetings we would have in the afternoon. I wrote some guidelines for organizing the Feast of Tabernacles, especially in the light of the needs and capacities of this part of the world. I attempted to call and confirm my ongoing flight on the Rwandan national airline, but I could not find a working phone number for them. I also tried Kenya Airways, since the two used to have a cooperative arrangement, but couldn't reach them either. Apparently Kenya Airways severed its ties to Rwanda in the past couple of weeks because the latter was not keeping up to agreed-upon security standards. That's both reassuring about Kenya, but slightly alarming about Rwandair. I believe I will attempt to look into that a bit farther.
Nathan and Moïse arrived at a little past three pm, accompanied by two other church leaders:  Dieudonné Nikobamye from the Ruziba congregation and Etienne Nsavymana from the Mugina congregation. We had planned to meet at Moïse's house, but they felt we'd do better to meet at the hotel, so we five went up to my room.  We talked for about 3 ½ hours. Much of what we discussed was about the annual festivals taught in both the Old and New Testaments. We went over in detail both the theoretical and practical aspects of organizing their observance, especially in rural Africa.
They also asked to go over once again the chronology of the crucifixion week: the three days and three nights Jesus said He would be in the heart of the earth.
The air conditioning is kept barely functioning during the day at the Novotel, and the windows won't open, so it warmed up quite a bit in the room during the hours that we talked. I was wet with sweat by the time we finished up.
They left shortly before 7:00 pm. We agreed to meet again tomorrow morning starting about 8:30. It will be a full day, since we'll be in meetings all day, and I have an 8:45 pm flight to Kigali (I hope).
