Today was a day of office work and meetings. I spent the morning catching up on office work I hadn't gotten to in a few days. Right after lunch, Jacob, Justin, Victor, Kapingamulume and Francis came to the hotel. We sat around a table in the hotel's small back garden talked about a wide variety of things. We discussed church needs. The number one need is state registration and recognition. The second is a decent regular place to meet. They estimate that if everyone who is interested started attending we could have an attendance approaching 100 with the children. We will continue to work on bylaw rules for registering an association here in Congo so that we can operate safely and legally. Of course poverty is an issue, we discussed that, and ways we might realistically be able to help those in need, in line with what we have done in other African countries.
Then I turned on my laptop and we had a long, computer-illustrated discussion about the UCG association and its work around the world, especially French-Africa, and I used a PowerPoint presentation to illustrate our governmental structure. There were lots of question, and it was a very useful discussion by all accounts. We talked for around 4 hours, and agreed on plans for services on the Sabbath.  We plan to meet again in the afternoon after services to continue discussions and wrap up what we can for this visit.
I was able to have my wife call me back on the phone in the evening, and we caught up on what's been going on back home during the week I've been gone (one down, three to go). News from home is a wonderful tonic.
