I woke up Sunday morning about 7:30 a.m. after a 3 hour cat-nap. I was worried about my bag and my internal clock was all messed up. I was also STARVING, after my gourmet in-flight Japanese meal. We decided to play it safe and so we took a cab to...(insert drum-roll...) Denny's. MMMMM MMMMM. It was very crowded, there were lots of dads being treated to a special Father's Day breakfast by their families.
The people native to Guam are the Chamorro. It is important to note that they are not "Guamanians" or "Guamian". The Denny's had a special menu of Chamorro favorites. The breakfast entrees included rice, portuguese sausage, grilled beef and whole tilapia-and yes, for breakfast. Also, because of the large number of Japanese tourists, rice-both fried and steamed, is available for every meal. We decided to stick with good ole pancakes and eggs. My stomach was grateful
Our next order of business is to get some replacement clothes. Please note that while men's boxer shorts can be extremely comfortable, they are not work appropriate (thanks anyway CJ). Exactly one week ago, at nearly the same time, I was at a mall, shopping for clothes. Not only was I at a mall, I was at MACY's at Lennox. Now I was at Macy's Micronesia Mall. This mall, while interesting, is not the exotic locale I imagined when I thought of sights to see in Guam. I am grateful to the kind women at the Macy's who helped me find something simple, and on clearance.
We headed back to the hotel and I called JAL to see if my bag had left Dallas. They said it had, and should be to Guam at 2:15 a.m. Monday morning, arriving on the same nightly flight we took. Gee, I hope my bag wasn't hungry (ha-ha). The airlines promised to deliver my bag by 9 a.m. Monday morning, only 1 hour after I was scheduled to be at work. At least I had something to wear now-one never knows when a mall will come in handy!

HEY!!
Sounds like you're having fun! How's the work? Have you adjusted to the time? I'm only in Phoenix and losing my mind over the lack of sleep from the East Coast. Keep the blogs coming! :-)

Hunger/Lost Luggage
Dennys, huh? LOL! Well, my question was answered about what happened to your bags. I'll have to email you and ask what type of business trips librarians take to Guam. Should I change fields? I love both books and traveling.
Re: Hunger/Lost Luggage
Oh, thanks for posting natives to Guam are called Chamorro. They may be the million dollar trivia question one day.
