We woke up in a little village called Ribadesella in the search of more dino footprints. The morning was rainy and miserable, we slipped and slid all over the rocks trying to see the foot prints, which were up on a rock wall. It was ok, not as cool as the others. When we got back to the van a weird Spanish woman yelled at us. We couldn't understand what she was so upset about so we just nodded our way through the lecture.

Later that day we wandered into Llanes, a veritable pirate town. No mistake, it was like we were on that pirate island on Pirates of the Caribbean. Wall to wall pirateyness. They had schloss and cannons too.
The next day after a little sleep by a small beach we drove into Santillana de Mer, a place famous for its Altamira cave. This cave was a mega discovery and is full of some of the best prehistoric art ever. The cave needs to be booked 3 years in advance and visits only 6 people at a time. But for us sketchy individuals you are able to enjoy their exact replica cave and their museum. We spent hours there amazed by the surprising sophistication of their art. Picasso said: "Art ends at Altamira, the rest is just decadence". Implying that art had reached maturity even before time began.

Later that day we ventured into Santander port and bought our ferry tickets for next week. There’s always a bit of nervousness when the pass-ports are whipped out. Especially when you are a set of dodgers like us. The fact that we now have tickets for England and the inundation of email interest in Bigwig’s ad, means that things are wrapping up very tidily for us. Thanks Saint Christopher. When we return to Australia, Joel is considering adopting Saint Ana, patron saint of fishers. Perhaps then he may catch something…
