We found another crazy beautiful parking spot along side a yellow beach in L'Escala. We spent the night there and in the morning got to watch a kingfisher right next to the van that was floating in the air and diving into the sea to catch fish. We spent the entire morning on a vast walk along the coast where we were able to pass more ancient Roman and Greek ruins (which is always awesome) and apart from the freezing wind, the sun was blaring hot and in the sheltered areas we were able to thaw out but then be frozen again on the next turn.

That afternoon we drove out to a little medieval town called 'Pals’. Reputed to be the best preserved and most beautiful of its kind in this region. When we finally wandered into the town we found it virtually deserted, and the idea of it being the most visited town in Costa Brava very questionable. But it did let us have free reign over the entire place which was great.
Pals was almost completely destroyed in the civil war and painstaking rebuilt to its former glory through the vision of a doctor in the town. It took 30 years but now Pals is Costa Brava’s most idyllic medieval town.
