The afternoon after visiting the citadel in Roses we drove out to the next town over called Figeures, a place renowned for its hero Salvadore Dali. In the town is the gallery that was bought and decorated by the artist himself. It essentially is the house of Surrealism, complete with giant white eggs on top of the roof.

We paid a hefty sum to enter but was recompensated ten fold by the zany world of Dali and his friends on the inside. It was great so see such a huge collection of his in one place, including his more classic studies which gave a great picture of his ability which lay as the capstone in his insane creations, be it a splattered canvas or a giant melty venus de milo with desk draws coming out of her.

We had such a fun time and it was all capped off with the collection of Dali's jewelry, as of course, he was a renaissance man. These were cool bizarre pieces of jewelry. Our favorite being a little ruby heart that beated like a real heart.
Although there were no melty clocks or any long legged elephants, this gallery has to be the quintessential house of surrealism.

When we got back to Bigwig we found a 60€ parking fine on our screen. We have both decided to do the right thing by it though, and recycle it in the right bin.
