We hugged the Mediterranean as close as the mountains would allow us until like magic we were in Spain, saying goodbye (perhaps forever) to France.

Apart from a nice relaxing lunch on a beach the main agenda was to go out into the famous terraced peninsula called Cadaques, a famous hang spot for Picasso and Dali.
When we got there we found it damn near impossible to stop anywhere, not only were there no car spaces but there were very specific NO CAMPER signs literally on every corner! We were really cut up thinking there could be a country even more anal than France.. We abandoned the town and began a long windy descent though Cap de Creus national park, seeing along the way more discriminatory anti camper signs, until we reached the lower plateau and decided to head to a town called Roses.

We spent the night on the foreshore after a rather ominous warning from the tourist information chick, saying anywhere else is very risky as this winter's crime had proven "interesting"…
We enjoyed a little shop and watching the sun set, and in the morning headed down the road to the old citadel. An incredible place that has 2500 years of architectural history, first from the Visigoths, the Greeks, Romans and then finally became the battle site for many Spanish wars. It was amazing to see so many layers of history in such a small space. Truly amazing. The medieval sector, now only rubble and base foundations from the Spanish/French war was crazy, they had an un-exploded cannon ball still embedded in the stone work.
