A rad photo of a town in our blue book had drawn us to a town called Beziers, a high top town over a river which had a huge cathedral standing prominently at its cliff front.
When we first began to explore the town in order to climb to the top, we suddenly began to get that 'about to be raped' feeling again, ala civita catelliana. But this was like the next level; there were gangs of police wandering around to intimidate the crime. There were lots of unsavories slinking about and as we navigated some of the dark allys to get to the top, there was a dangerous air keeping us alert and battle ready.

When we got to the top the amount of wind smashing us damn near bowled us over. We had to wait 2 hours for the cathedral to open so we sheltered in a café till we exhausted our stay and were back in the chill of the wind again. The gale was crazy, shoving you left and right like we were kite people.

The Cathedrale St. Nazaire was epic inside and a kind respite after the weather but it didn’t take long before we were out again as Jena had unsettling feelings in the church.
We took a different route back to Bigwig this time, but was later confounded by the amount of roadside prostitutes out of town. We both agreed we wouldn’t stop the car until we were out of whore land.

Probably should qualify this blog entry by saying that apart from all that dreadfulness, some of the views and architecture was downright beautiful, even in spite of the seediness.
