In Arles we found a nice nearby park to investigate the town which had a nice big white roman arena and amphitheatre. It also had a large river passing through it which was way too windy to enjoy, so we spent most of the late morning shopping and eating our picnic in front of the arena.

We played frisby for a while until we were way too hot in our scarves and cardigans then we returned to bigwig to shut down for the evening.
Jena had been watching a man outside acting suspicious and strange, when suddenly he had broken into the car directly in front of Bigwig, looted some paper and then dowsed the back seat in what looked like lighter fluid. It all seemed like it was fast forward, and all the while Jena had been narrating the scene casually to Joel when the fire was lit! Jena sprang up as if to get Joel to start the van and leave, but Joel leapt up and out of the van to confront the villain. The man was so surprised, "What are you doing?!" Joel yelled. By which the man spouted some quick French nonsense and ran off. Jena was out of the van and had seen the fire building up in the car and started shouting. Joel quickly opened the door and wreathed out the flaming blanket and pulled it out, then he patted down the burning seats.
We returned to Bigwig full of adrenaline and waited for the owner of the car to return. He did show up after about half an hour and Joel tried to explain to him what had happened despite the fact he spoke no English. He was devastated but thankful to us.

We quickly realized that if we had not been in Bigwig at the time, out still playing frisby or something, then we most definitely would have come back to find our van burnt down too with the other car as we were parked so close. Its one of those very lucky situations where you gotta hand it to good old St. Christopher. Cheers Chrisso.

Not sure if the dude would be bummed at us for ruining his arson attempt we soon jetted off to the other side of Arles where we found a new place to camp.
