In the end we simply bought a whole new larger bottle that we can exchange in France, seeing we have to come back though again later in the year.
Satisfied, we drove on to Antibes, not especially interested in going back to the insanity of Monte Carlo and Nice. Antibes is a great little coastal town where we were able to park safely off the marina and walk in. There were fascinating antique markets set up inside the walls and we also had fun sticking our noses into the food and spice market in the old town. By now we had thrilling sunny weather, so we were able to pack a picnic and enjoy the foreshore and the beaches, looking out at the fortress and the snow covered Alps.
Antibes is also well known as a place where Pablo Picasso did a great deal of work. We tried to see the gallery but it was closed. Apparently the town had given him a castle to recluse himself in after the trauma of the war.
