We eventually came to lake Como where we traversed some ridiculous narrow roads to finally end up at another ferry. It took us to the further shore in the centre of the vast long lake, and then we were in Bellagio. Yes the real Bellagio, the one Las Vegas mimicked with their casino.
If we had to choose between the two, the real life town wins hands down with quaint narrow market streets, decadent Italian restaurants, and awesome waterfront panoramic views of the Romanesque towns on the opposite side.
We spent a lot of time in the water, swimming and washing, albeit the water was very weedy and algal, which had Jena picking green out of her hair for hours after
The family had scored an awesome hotel room and we somehow managed to secure a too-good-to-be-true park on the waterside outside the gorgeous botanical garden.
The town is so lovely but there seemed to be a disproportionate amount of Australian tourists which was really surprising. Definitely all wogs from Melbourne come to escape Australia, only to find us. Suckers.
We got to fossic for "ancient Roman artifacts" alone the stony beaches and colleced all manner of treasure. Most being beautiful colourful glass and a little plastic Indian chief (made in china. But definitely Roman).
