As early as we could muster (perhaps 10:30am) we ventured into the city Edinburgh. Renowned as the 'Athens of the north', this city surprised us to no end. The city, an up-beat classic stone metropolis had so much personality that was so perfectly consistent in style, we were astounded. The Castle, which is as if the earth beneath it just pushed it a hundred feet in the air, perches itself prominently above the city. The Parks and gardens, which decorate the feet of the castle, were inspiring and we reveled in eating vegetarian haggis in the cold brighness of the park.

With monuments and such a keen sense of national pride in the city, Edinburgh, has risen in our minds as the best city in the united kingdom, with Jena even putting it beside New York!

If you like tartan and kilts, this is the place for you. So many to see and buy. And people do wear them, everywhere, every temperature… We saw where they made the tartan fabrics and nearly got sucked into buying more stuff, until we realized we had no right to look Scottish at all. But we’ve never wanted more to be a Macgreggor or a Wallace.

Also, we finally found our coffee pot! Which we learned is called a ‘Moka pot’. Either way, we will finally have quality coffee to drink in the mornings.

Goodbye Scotland! We love you and will remember you as the most gorgeous of all of the British isle. And if we didn’t have a date with a certain Sherwood forest and a watership down, we would gladly stay on your side of the border for longer.

We made it as far as Fort William when we were in Scottland. The mountains in the rain were just amazing with riverlets and waterfalls. And how about Edinburgh!!! Did you get to go in the castle? What an awesome place! I will never forget it either! XX
