Driving north brought us to an interesting place called Enniskillen. Without knowing it, we had crossed the border into Northern Ireland, the British Isles; so apparently we're back in England! They use the Bristish Pound and the 'Police’ is called ‘Police’ instead of ‘Garda’. Also, we’re back to miles not km. There was a castle on the river so we stopped there for lunch and decided to explore the town. With not much open on a Sunday, we bought some groceries and were on our way to see Castle Coole.

Not really a castle but a huge show home built in the 1700’s. The only way to see this house is via a tour, which we just made it in time to see, at 4pm. We were able to see original furnishings of this lush home that was mainly a summerhouse. The basement was the servant quarters that housed 35 servants, when the family was visiting.

That evening we followed the motorway further north and pulled over in the ‘parking’ lane for the night. Waking up in the morning, we looked out our back window and there were police cars stopping traffic on the motorway searching cars and letting them through. Thinking there must have been a fugitive they were after, we went and asked them. Apparently they were checking to make sure that cars had paid their tax, and seizing them if they hadn’t. After a chat with a friendly Irish policeman, we were on our way.

Great blog! FYI: Northern Ireland is in Great Britain, just like England, Wales and Scotland.
