Flag of Ireland  , County Cork,
Thursday, May 13, 2010

Our skittles style of driving zigzagged us all the way to Cork, a town everyone insisted we visit. It is a city set on a river a little like Melbourne. But it was as we unexpected, very modern and familiar as any big city. Perhaps the night life could reveal more Irishness to us but instead we decided to zigzag our way out again through Blarney and out again into the country.

One important thing to mention is just how modern all of Ireland is. Most of the houses, even in the deepest part of the country is very new, or very renovated. We anticipated seeing more old rustic countryside like that of west Cornwall, with stone houses and thatched roofs, but it is very modern with big American styled houses.
