He’s a real smooth machine now! Not as much trouble as we first thought.
We made camp that night outside the castle Dinefwr (we were calling it “dine-fur” but the welsh insist on calling it “din-evir”. They’re so backwards..)
In the morning we walked up into the trust site to have a look. The ruined norman castle, high atop a mountain was unbelievable with spectacular views for miles and miles across the countryside
We had another bird-watching station lunch break. No birds at all sadly, last time we at least saw a sweet pair of great tits. But no such luck this time.
A small little diversion from the bush track left us lost in the middle of nowhere, it was a great adventure finding our way back, hopping fences, climbing hills, dodging brambles. Feeling not at all terrified by the black clouds above and a growing feeling that we may have to sleep in a big hollow log for the night.
We did get out, and did get to see the rest of the Dinefwr house which was great fun.
Back in WW2 it served as a military hospital for the troops. Consequently, all of the white cows which live around the house needed to be painted green to prevent enemy planes from thinking the property had tents on it.
We packed up out van and then headed north where the skies decided to bless us with sun. We certainly welcome that old friend.
