After the tour of the castle we had a great lunch then headed out of Bodiam off to Hastings. During the drive, the car had some serious difficulty stopping. Fearing for our safety, we stopped in at a Kwik Fit in Hastings to have them tend to our brakes. Upon inspection they informed us that our back brake shoes had shattered and destroyed the drums. This was on Thursday and they informed us that they could only get the parts in to fix it on Monday (the following week). So here we were to stay for the next 5 days. We tended to our washing and walked right into Hastings (about 7km away) to check out the town. We went and had lunch on the beach, which was just as they say, stones! Quite an experience but better than having sand down your pants! The kids didn't mind at all with their buckets and spades, they even still buried each other under the rocks.

We then headed into Old Town where for about 1km on both sides, antiques stores lined the streets. It was like our heaven! (If only we had money).

The walk home was so beautiful, the weather has been amazing, not one drop of rain at all! Blue skies and copious amounts of sun shine. We walked back through a beautiful park and a forest! Found a baby bird by which a couple of kids were trying to pick up with a pair of sticks. They were scared of catching "fleas". Suppose it is still a lingering fear in these parts from the black plague.. Joel felt like a regular Steve Irwin by picking it up with his hands and putting it in a safe place.

Well, Monday came… and went. Apparently they received our parts, except they were used. They won’t fit any part to our car that they can give a lifetime guarantee for. So, another night in their parking lot, waiting. Hastings. We would have stayed here a week anyway…. Hmm..
