Our first day was our toughest cause we traveled non-stop for almost 20 hrs in order to reach New Zealand. Our incredible journey began from our home at 5am where we left our home to take Air Asia's shuttle bus which will take us to the airport in about 90mins (already taken 2 hrs). We checked-in and waited for our flight before boarding the flight departed sharp at 8.40am local time (another 2 hrs of waiting). The plane flew for 11 hrs non-stop. By the time we touched down at Christchurch, New Zealand, it's already 10.55pm NZ time (NZ is ahead of Malaysia 4 hrs).
We passed the Immigration, collected our begs, got some brochures at the information counter, and headed towards the exit where the airport transfer was already waiting for us as I had per-booked. I would strongly recommend to use their service as it's affordable, convenient and professional. The time spent in airport and trip to our accommodation at Jailhouse took us another 1 hr. We finally reached our destination at about 1am NZ time. As it's already late at night, we just had to "break-in" (using pre-defined code) to the Jailhouse and the keys to our room was already ready waiting for us at the reception.
Whilst the rest of family members settled down, I took the camera and explored our new home The award-winning Jailhouse ( a real one) is just pure awesomeness, with its amenities, facilities (even has a theater!), its cleanliness and location (very near to train station) it was worth every penny spent! I'm not surprised it's mentioned in Lonely Planet. We felt very comfortable and it was not scary at all despite it being a former prison.
