Where I stayed
Natchez Trace Wilderness Preserve
What I did
Mississippi River, and very cool homes
Took I-40 freeway for a short while and got off on RT 64, the back roads of Tennessee after passing over the Mississippi river. Check out the Mud Island Pyramid, which is an ampitheatre, museum, historic waterfront - has a replica of a Mississippi steamboat and a lot of information that noon of us illiterates would have guessed.
The rural roads are a lot better because you see stuff you can't see in the interstate....have I mentioned that before. We were really impressed with the homes along the way; stately, plantation/colonial style archtecture with huge columns and expansive yards that are manicured. These people must take some serious pride in there abodes, because if I had that much yard to mow, it's either hire someone, blacktop it, or screw it.
We took the Natchez Trace Parkway which is a Federal historic, wooptee do trail for some reason, but it was amazing, and are now at a huge preserve with lake, no one here. Pretty cool, because you never know what you're going to find in some of these out-of-the-way places, so this was JACKPOT as opposed to our occassional GETTO.
