So, we have arrived!!! Really, really warm but no sun!!! What is going on?!!! Anyways, arrived in to Phuket airport which is so like Carnmore it's not funny! Anyways, had a private transfer to our hotel and Patong is really weird, it is surrounded on all sides by either water and mountains and you have to drive over the mountain to get into the town. We were a little bit worried as the place is very overcrowded and to be honest, the streets look quite dirty, so we were wondering what we were letting ourselves in for! And when the driver pulled down this side road we were even more worried, but then he pulled into this gorgeous haven of trees and wood buildings. The hotel is fab and thankfully we got our poolside room with our own private jacuzzi on the balcony. Very cool as it's so nice to pop into it after you have been walking around in the heat. The humidity here is a killer and there is no sun, we are due to take a boat to the Similan Islands, it was meant to be yesterday, but it was postponed til tomorrow because of bad weather, they are expecting thunderstorms all week. But surprise surprise Joe still managed to get a little bit burnt through the cloud cover the day before yesterday! I on the other hand have been very good and am not burnt at all!!!

So apart from lying around the pool and sleeping every day we are not doing much, although we did head down to Bangla Road a few nights and let's just say it was an experience! This place is nuts!!! We saw every type of man/woman you could think of and we ended up getting extremely drunk playing Connect4 at a bar down there until 3 in the morning. So of course with a pile of drink in us we were a lot braver going back up Bangla than when we came down it!!!! Joe had a very interesting encounter with a ladyboy, but I have to admit that I dared him!!!! And he was approached a million times by female companions!! But I was keeping a close eye on him as I think neither of us knew whether they were actually women or men!!!!

So, we are sitting here now at 9 in the morning, melting in the heat and wondering how it can be so hot when there is no sun. I'm laughing at the tour organiser because if he says the weather is too bad tomorrow and we can't go, he should come to Ireland and see bad weather there!! We have also had a little bit of rain everyday, but it's nice as it's hot rain, so with this I will share with you some of our little sayings from our hoilday.............................

"God has put the kettle on!" - i.e. it's raining  and it's hot so God wants a cupin of tae!

"I need the happy room" - I need the toilet, but as in all the bars in Bangla, it is not such a happy place!

"Ca bhfuil mo vodka/Jack Daniels?' - Where is my vodka/Jack Daniels, very funny when you say it to Thai people!

"Me, You 20 baht!" - what all the girls/boys say to Joe when walking down Bangla!!

Chat soon,

xxx J & A

That far and no sun (reply)

What the heck brought you that far for a sun holiday and no sun. You could have gone to Kinvara for that. However I do not think you would get the same heat. i suppose you want your own private jacuzzi and pool in the house now. Good luck with that dream. However some of your dreams are coming true and maybe that will continue. Enjoy those girls Joe, and bring some of them to your stag night.
