today was intense.
. we departed columbia missouri at 7:45am and arrived in castle rock colorado at 7:30pm. joe drove the first leg, then brandon, and lastly beck. somehow i lucked out of the kansas drive! we played the "i'm going to las vegas and i'm bringing..." game and that kept us busy and laughing for a half hour or so. ha, not that long in the long run. there was a little mix up with our route and we tried to camp tonight in the ponderosa forest, but ended up in the middle of horse country so we drove into town and have a room at the days inn. they have a hot tub so we had to partake. tomorrow we plan to drive down to mesa verde (the pueblo indian cliff dwellings) in the southwest corner of the state. we'll tour that area and camp out. the next day we want to drive down to the four corners, then over to the grand canyon, and up to zion in utah. it's going to be awesome. everything has been really fun and interesting and we haven't killed each other yet. we'll see what tomorrow brings. i'm falling asleep as i type aaaaand die hard 4 is on. good movie.
Well we went through Kansas today. It was okay, it wasn't as bad as I thought. I made it through without the use of any sedatives or going into a mild coma. There was a lot of nothing though and I'd never want to do it again. In short not much happened today other than driving. Colorado is really cool, its one of the first really different looking places we've been to so far. The weather has been really cool and the variety of smells has been overwhelming. There is a direct correlation between the beauty of the countryside and the quality of the smell. For example most of Kansas smelled like someone lit a bunch of skunks on fire in a tire factory. Thats all I have really tomorrow will be a fun day full of picture and we're hoping to change it up a bit and drive a lot. Could be worse I guess, my nose could be gushing blood. If you don't know why I said that you should watch "Batman Returns".
