Like I said I got into to Gotland quite late, so i went straight to bed and was up early Monday morning to accompany Auntie Luella back into Visby.  She had some teaching and classes to go to and I was set to tour the city. I sat in on her first lesson, (teaching english to a young girl) and then she had a break so we grabbed some breakfast and then took a quick initial tour of part of the city. IT IS SO OLD!! and so so pretty, even at this time of year. I'm sure in the summer it is breathtaking.  Auntie Luella had other lessons so she left me to discover the city by myself.  armed with several great books and a pair of Brents runners (sooo much more comfortable than my damn shoes) i set out to explore. First I had to see the sea!!! first real view of it!! so pretty! especially with the wall on oneside of the trail and the shore on the other.  I explored up and down the streets and along the wall all day. I can't really put into words how pretty and beautiful it was.  The weather was not great but that didnt really matter.  the old castle ruins and neat little houses were still amazing.  I just loved it!!
I had lunch in a small cafe (lamb stew) and I think the lady thought i was american.  I so badly wanted to leave a canada pin but they were in my other bag. not anymore, i will be prepared next time.  Dont want that to happen again!!!  I took another lap around by the sea before i met with auntie luella, I also grabbed a few bunches of tulips for her. they are so pretty.  One thing that is just beautiful in this city (and in gavle and stockholm) is the neat decorations they have for easter.  they have brightly coloured feathers tied onto branches and stuck in everywhere. so simple but really so pretty!! In Visby especially.
After i met back up with Auntie Luella, we headed out of town, stopping at a tack shop to grab a new halter for her horse Miranda and of course we had to look at saddles, and boots, and bits...haha.  We also stopped and checked out a horse that she had sold to a young family last year.  he is a nice looking pony and very friendly, just being around him made me want to get on and ride!
Back at Avonlea we had a yummy supper and I took to my room to catch up on FB and post my Stockholm blog and get my pictures off my cameras. It was great to talk to Dad on Skype when he was in for lunch!! :)  I set my alarm and woke up at about 2am and talked to mom for a while (6pm there)!!good talk with her too.
I slept in the next morning!!! :) it was great! Auntie Luella had some running around to do in the morning so I kept house while she was out. She got back and we had a quick lunch then dropped uncle Anders off and went and got some milk from the farm they used to have, which is nearby. she gave me a quick tour of the barn and then we headed home to change and saddle up!!
What a perfect day for a ride, and so beautiful riding through the forest to the coast.  Ive never ridden english style before and I really liked it.  no horn to hold on to though!! I rode Sinead and Luella rode McKenzie. Its so great to ride when there isnt gates to open every half mile!! we were out for about 3hours but had to hurry home to change and get ready as we were going over to uncle anders' moms house for waffles!! His brother and family are out as well so we had a nice talk over supper.
The next day we did a bit of running around and touring some old churches.  We also took a drive and saw some really neat rock formations and limestone cliffs over looking the sea. very pretty. the sun tried to come out but it was a mostly overcast/foggy day. but still warm and not too windy.  We had a great talk with mom and dad on skype in the afternoon as well.  Supper with the norwegian cousins again ( yummy).
On Thursday I got to sleep in again! so spoiled! but after i got up we did a bit of running around then went for another great ride through the forest. lots of loping through the trees and splashing through puddles. I was wishing for my western saddle when Sinead pulled a fast one on me and veered to the left...leaving me on my butt beside a juniper tree. no damage...just my pride! all in all it was a great ride and a little spill wasnt going to ruin it for me!!
Later in the afternoon we took a great drive out to Faro (took a ferry across to the island) to see the awesome rocks along the beaches. so many nice stone fences too! beautiful to see the sunset out there!! found some neat fossils too!
Friday was a day of preperation; dropping off dogs and horses and getting tickets printed for the rest of the journey.  ive just got my bag repacked. I'm going to leave behind some clothes to make room for shopping!! :)  We also toured around Slita and a great outdoor museum at Farosund.  Really neat buildings from the 1600s up to the 1800s. auntie luella was a great tour guide!! Ended the day eating pinapples and icecream and watching tv!
Off to catch the ferry early tomorrow morning and then on to London!!
Tack Sa Mycket Sweden for such a wonderful experience!! I will return!!!
