After sitting in Nairobi Airport for nearly nine hours I finally got on my first ever Swiss Air flight.  Lucky enough to be travelling business class for the eight hour, night flight I was a little disapointed to see that the seats where only a fraction wider than those in economy.  Yeah, they went mostly flat, but they were so narrow, and I know it isn't that my bum is wider, 'cause I've actually lost a bit of width.

I was offered Orange Juice or water before take-off and I choose the water.  I told the stewardess that I would be sleeping and not to bother waking me for the late supper or breakfast.  It was gone midnight already, who really wants to be eating a three course meal at that time?

I slept.

Thirty minutes before landing I was woken up by the Captain telling everyone to look out the window to the left of the plane, as there was a fantastic view of something or other.  As I was sat on the right of the plane, I got up and went to the bathroom to clean my teeth.

The sun was shining in my eyes as we landed and I have to say it was one hell'va landing.  It was quite possibly the smoothest landing I have ever experianced.  Well done Cap'n!

About five feet from the exit of the plane everyine was being stopped and asked to show their passports.  I showed my UK one, so didn't get the third degree like the poor guy next to me.

'Where are you staying?
Why are you here?
How much money are you carrying with you...'

I didn't hear the rest, but I was really glad fro my EU passport.

We were funnelled towards our gates.  All US flights at E gates 16-38.  Through a surcuirty check.

Shoes off
Laptop out of bag
All watches, jewellery in the bucket

Walk through, no beep.

Sorry, please remove the camera from the bag.

Walk through again...

Up in the gates area, it is like a ghost town.  As it's only 0630 nothing is open and there appears to be no staff around.  I finally find a lone sweeper pushing a wide blue flat broom around in circles.  I ask, 'could you please point me towards the Business Lounge?'

'No lounge on this side, only other side'

I had to go out of the area and into the otherside of the E gates. 1-15 to access the lounge.  More surcrity.

I'm in the lounge now, but I will have to pass through two more surcuity checks to get back to my gate in three hours.

Maybe I should get hammered on Bloody Marys and then I wouldn't stress about it.
