While at Collier Seminole Everglades Park we met a "birder" at the pond at the end of the Cyprus Boardwalk who told us if we are driving back to the keys, we might want to check out the Bird Sanctuary in Tavernier. We listened

Andy showed how tenacity pays off when after "mucho" times on-line with Reserve America to get more site time at Bahia Honda Key....BINGO....he got us 6 days!!! At this time of year that is unheard of. The Block luck is going strong! So....as we drove south to the Keys we stopped and went through the Florida Wild Bird Center. The center is a very funky and wonderful rescue center. Many birds in all different levels of recuperation from broken wings to monofilament strangling them to hooks stuck in their feathers and flesh. All looked reasonably happy for where they are right now.

Most of my pix did not come out because of the amount of mesh between me and the birds. My camera kept getting confused as to what to focus on. These dedicated folks who began and continue to run this place are to be commended. You will see the boardwalks lined with plaques honoring donators. Very cool!

On our way ......... back to Bahia Honda and the beach!!!
