October 14th 2008

Drove over to Blue Ridge to have our teeth cleaned by Sass & Louise's dentist. While Jodie's cleaning went without a hitch, mine ended up revealing a cavity on the back side of my furthest back molar. The dentist said he could fix it right away and I agreed. When he was finished, he said it was in a bad spot and that I should get it crowned within a year at most. Bummer!

Hooked up with Sidra, the Realtor we used in April when we were checking out TN properties. She said there were homes on Lake Blue Ridge she wanted to show us. We love the idea of being so close to Sass and Louise.

The houses ended up being right on top of each other and some even had shared driveways and wells. After 20+ years of working in titletown, the answer had to be "no way"! The prices for houses that held any interest for us started at over a million dollars so we said we would take 3. Actually, we said "thanks anyway". Sidra, being the good Realtor that she is, brought up a house that we had seen on Campbell Cove Lake in TN. It seems that the price had dropped significantly and that the owner's new wife hated being in the country and refused to spend any time there. We drove over to check it out and we agreed that the house was cool, but the land needed Jodie's eye and touch. We prepared to put in an offer since Sidra thought we could get it for so little and we envisioned ourselves having a good time fixing it up and living there between trips in the RV.

Unfortunately, the fixed tooth is acting up, but I'm taking Advil and keeping my fingers crossed.

Hold everything with the house! Sidra spoke to the other Realtor and found out that there is a large judgment and lis pendens against the property, but we were told "don't worry, you can speak to the attorney and still buy the property with no problem". Being skeptical, I called the attorney and alas, too many legal issues were hanging over the house. Most of our friends from NY know that we ended up fighting a 3 yr. long lawsuit when we bought our last house in foreclosure. The last thing we want now is to enter into a new legal hassle with anyone, over anything. Sorry, but...no tanks!

Woke up at 4:30 AM from a toothache. The Advil isn't lasting though the night.

We parked at a Home Depot in Blue Ridge GA so we could pick up some electrical parts to complete our new meter installation. When I came out of the store, I saw a truck at a 90 degree angle in front of the RV and Jodie had her door open. I walked around the truck and saw that Jodie was talking to a friendly looking man. We introduced ourselves and he (Rick) had come over to invite us to park the RV along side his movie theater and to use his water and sewer hookups. He had recently sold his own RV and was generously extending the use of its parking area to fellow travelers.

We happily accepted his invitation and drove over to set up on the vacant lot next to his Twin Cinema. After setting up and talking for a while, Rick left us to get ready for the 7:00 show. About an hour later, we were relaxing and talking when we heard a knock on the door. Rick had arrived with a huge container of popcorn, a giant "date soda" (2 straws sticking out) and 2 big boxes of Milk Duds. Wow, what a kind and unexpected surprise. We talked a while longer and when he heard how we had unsuccessfully been looking for a place on Lake Blue Ridge, he offered his unoccupied lake home as a place to hang out and kayak. Incredible! Although we will not be taking him up on his offer (itchy feet for Lake Oconee), we will never forget meeting this wonderful new friend.

At 9:00 we decided to take in a movie, but Rick refused our money and said "the ticket window is closed" and treated us to a show. We saw the world premier of "Max Payne", a real shootem up movie. Fun!

Tomorrow we head back to Lake Oconee.....Eatonton, Georgia.
