Pulled into Carter's Lake State Park campground for a couple of days of swimming and work on the RV. The water is emerald green and this is said to be the deepest lake in GA. Swimming in this lake is like moving through liquid cold cream. It feels incredibly clean and rejuvenating to swim out away from the rock shoreline into the deep dense green water. Both of us are reminded of swimming in Little Whaley Lake, a lake that was a mile or two from our old place on Whaley Lake. What an incredible sensation to move through this water. The water level is down because this lake is used for drinking water and the area has been experiencing a drought for over two years.
I picked up a Trimetric wall mount electrical meter to help us monitor and maintain our new batteries. The installation should take a few hours without having the use of my shop, but the instructions are very straight forward and I've been corresponding with some RV gurus and downloading a pictures from the internet to help guide me along. I really enjoy making modifications to the RV while on the road. Overcoming the unexpected glitches makes the experience more exciting. I've included some pix of the installation for our RVer friends and if any of you are interested, I would be happy to help you with your own intallation when we see you in FL.
We called a local realtor to check out some of the properties here, but the Army Corp. of Engineers controls this lake and they don't allow docks or ownership of property within 300' of the water. Considering how incredible the water is, we decided to see what it would be like to walk from one of the houses on the market down to the water. No good! It was at least 1/2 a mile winding walk down hill to the lake which would make us soaking wet from that long a walk back up the hill (what's the point?). All of the properties that are on the market have very steep terrain because we are in the mountains. This steepness makes access to the water very difficult and at the same time makes the lake as deep as it is. Our desire to plant fruit trees and gardens would not be easy with such heavily wooded lots, steep hills and no gentle slopes or flat areas to be found.
Oct. 16th.
Finished the meter installation, went for a long walk and took a swim before sitting down for a Jodie cooked meal of lamb, sweet potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, leaks and caramelized onions......unbelievable!!! One again, we are eating meals that are miles above anything we have ordered in the restaurants we've encountered.
