June 30th.
Sequim (pronounced Squim), is a town on the Olympic Peninsual that has been called the "Blue Hole" by pilots who notice that as they fly over the overcast northwest, there is an actual blue hole over this one area of the peninsula. This area is what is known as "the rain shadow". Sequim is the main town within this rain shadow and under the blue hole!! Rain shadow has been explained to me like this; think of a shadow made by the sun being blocked by a mountain. Then substitute the sun with rain and youve got it. The effect is that the mountains cause the rain to fall before getting to the other side and therefore causes no rain on the shadow side. Escellent for those living in the rain shadow if you are like Andy and me....sun lovers!!!

We have wanted to check out Sequim and neighboring towns for some time now to see if we would settle in the Northwest. This area is charming with sun and very beautiful towns and ocean and forests and people....but....alas....too cold for Andy and me. We will keep on our journey and let the weather lead us to the right place for a full time home. Till then, the RV is perfect for us.
