Drove over Route 41, the winding mountain road toward Fresno, CA and stopped at a local farmers stand. The woman at the stand had homegrown strawberries, blackberries, onions, squash and greenbeans that Jodie picked up to go with dinner for the next few days.
On the way into the park I spotted a brown mountain goat up on top of a 20'-25' tall boulder. It was just standing there, on top of the boulder, looking out at the view. I snapped a couple of shots and you can see what we saw, but unfortunately, they are a bit blurry. I kept waiting to see a mountain lion pounce on the goat that was just standing there like bait, but it didn't happen while we were there. The thought of mountain lions came to me from the signs posted as we entered the park. They warned about the dangers of mountain lions in the area.
We got into the park at around 6:30 PM, so Jodie made some dinner and we went for a bike ride to scope out the park.
June 7th.
We moved sites to a full hookup location and met a man from Monterey, CA that comes here 2 times a year. He visits in June and September because July through August are about 115 degrees and most of the lake, which is a reservior, disappears from the farmers using the water for their crops. He said that none of the water is for drinking, it's all for agriculture.
Yesterday and today have been around 95 degrees and the water is probably somewhere in the high 70s. We did lots of biking, swimming and internetting, since this is the first place we have had service in 5 days.
