Hi all !
Andy wrote and sent to as many as he could think of his first account of what was happening with us. I have started with his entry so those who did not receive it can view it now and as it seems to depict the sense and sensibility of our beginning.
Happy Thanksgiving! In case you didn't know, Jodie and I had our
closing on Monday and headed out after some last minute problems that
our friend Bob Duffy helped us work out. Actually, we spent Monday
night in our lawyer Gary's driveway (he wanted us to stay inside, but
our cat Maudie was too freaked out to consider leaving her alone) and
then spent Tuesday wrapping up final details like motor vehicles,
insurance, Comcast, etc.
We didn't get much further Tuesday night and ended up setting up in
the Fishkill Wallmart parking lot (Wallmarts are a common sleeping
spot for RVers). After being under so much self imposed pressure to
get everything done in time to close, it was the best sleep we had had
in weeks. We made it to PA on Wednesday and stayed the night in a KOA
campground which was not as good as the Wallmart lot and tonight we
are staying in a campground in Cherry Hill, Maryland, outside of DC.
We hope to spend a few days here checking out the Smithsonian
buildings, a number of the monuments, maybe the Library of Congress,
the mint and some of the local eateries before we head south to stop
in for a visit with family and friends along the way.
We planned on picking up some chicken Caesar salads for Thanksgiving
dinner, but we found this incredible market that had hundreds of
freshly prepared items of varied ethnic and American cuisine, so we
had a very tasty smorgasbord type meal in the RV with Maudie.
the way, is now loving this new life and stopped meowing by Tuesday
morning.
Hope your T-day was good and that all is well. We'll be doing a
travel blog as soon as we take some time to figure it out and then our
friends and family can follow along as we go.Happy Thanksgiving,
Andy & Jodie

Monday November 26th:
I want to add a bit to Andy's account. While at Walmart's parking lot we had breakfast at a Cracker Barrel across Rte 9 to be pleasantly surprised by their attention to low fat and high protein meals! We then headed back to Walmart to pick up a few items at Sam's Club....an electric razor for Andy. He has resisted switching to an electric for all these years and now with so much changing he adds one more! Good for you Andy!
Out from Sam's Club along with Andy and his purchase come the Grady's~!! Many will know Stephanie and Jim and all 4 kids and many will not. But all will identify with the serendipity of bumping into these particular friends. They were on their way to Laural, MD to have Thanksgiving with Stephanie's family. We were heading out to only a few miles closer to DC!!!! That is amazing! Jim and Stephanie invited us to share their T-Day in MD which is the generous and sharing attitude of Thanksgiving and a true example of the sharing and generous attitude of the Grady's !!! Although we opted to get to the RV park in daylight to do our hook ups, etc...instead of sharing in their Thanksgiving meal....we sure appreciated the invitation.
