broke and stuck in pisco on your way to balestos island?
travel guides would suggest there is nothing to do... wrong! 1. arrange a taxi (who can act as a guide) 2. visit the huge old wharf down at the beach, make sure the driver can walk with so you don't get mugged. we saw kids fishing, plenty of birds and a pod of dolphins. 3. go to the fish markets, crazy place where huge crabs crawl over to you ... i wanted to buy one for a snack (cheap US$0.50), but where to cook it? We also fed the pelicans fish gut without some kid charging us a buck 4. catch a tuk tuk (3 wheel motobike taxi) into the main square watch a street typist (with a real typwriter!) or stand in front of the only monument.
5. WARNING! unless you are within a block of the main square DO NOT WALK with anything valuable, catch a tuk tuk or you may get mugged. 6. here soon... where to eat, stay, and the best taxi driver TIP: just been to the ATM and need change? no-one in peru can change anything greater than a 10 peso note(US$3). why wait in a line at the bank?... ask with a smile, "cambio?" (change) to your nearest money changer (guys walking around with huge wads of cash) More thumbnails ...
