I spent my afternoon with 40 girls and women from Jarash Camp. We went on a field trip to the King Hussein Gardens and Children's Museum in Amman. Not to get all rainbows and butterflies, but it really was a day full of laughter, smiles, singing, dancing and futbol (some of these girls are really good!!). There were young men's futbol matches going on around and older men sitting on benches watching as well as many families having picnics. Afterwards I took a taxi to the grocery store in one of the biggest malls in Amman where families were shopping per usual.
Before I came to Jordan someone at school said the feelings and perception you have of a place is very different when you live there compared to when you get all of your information from the news clips that are broadcasted. I am now seeing what he meant. While the protests are taking place there is also a sense of normal here in Amman and a lot of good people, and good things going on around the country.
