After Cameron Highlands it was time for the big city of KL.  I travelled there with some friends I had made in the Highlands.  We got a decent dorm in China Town, only downside being it was as hot as hell with no ventilation whatsoever!

First day I went for a wander, found the shopping malls, bought a couple of tops in Topshop (just like home), took a trip on the monorail just for fun, saw a group of Malaysia bagpipers in kilts and did some shopping on Petaling Street, a market street that is absolutely crazy at night with sellers!

Next day was sightseeing day.  We all went up the KL Tower, which didn't actually feel that high as it was enclosed windows but gave good views of the city.  Afterwards we were heading to Petronas Towers when it started pouring rain so one of the men who was supposed to be giving free shuttle bus rides to the KL Tower gave us a lift in a swanky Mercedes mini van for a small fee!  We didn't go inside as the viewing platform you go too isn't as high as KL Tower.  Underneath is a massive shopping mall where I managed to pass a few hours.

Last day there we visited the Batu Caves, about half an hour or so on the bus from KL.  The caves are the location for an annual festival when devotees all pierce themselves and hang things or pull things with their bodies.  This wasn't the time for it so all was quiet and the caves weren't really that impressive, more interesting were the monkeys hanging out on the (272!) steps to get up there.

Random event - After a conversation with the guys about ghosts, somehow we talked about whether or not it would be scary if you saw a ghost cow.  Random I know.  But not as random as when I was woken up (having gone to bed early with a cold) by 3 of them under a sheet with 2 beer bottles as horns going "mooooooohhh, moooooohh".  And that was the end of KL!
