I took a taxi, a ferry, a taxi, a bus (which dropped me on my own in the middle of nowhere at 3.30am - cheers guys!), a taxi, a boat then another boat. Total cost - about 20 pounds - a fortune here!!
Perhentian Islands are probably the most beautiful islands I've ever seen, white sand and crystal clear turquoise water that stays clear no matter how deep you go. Only bad thing is the cost, everything is overpriced and not worth it. The first night was spent in a filthy dorm, second night in an outrageously expensive room with a girl I met and from then on in my own little wooden hut. Not much more than a garden shed really but it had a nice balcony
So what did I do there? Not much! But that was the idea:
Snorkelling - amazing, loads of fish as well as a turtle and a shark
Diving - 3 dives, one on a ship wreck which was also amazing
Fishing - with another girl and 2 locals, we caught our own fish and ate them for dinner
And of course lying on the beach!
Being interviewed for Malaysian TV in my bikini - still not sure what for, something about tourism!
Seeing giant lizards
The way it rained torentially at 8pm every night
Russian fighter jets that Malaysia had purchased being tested practically right over our heads!
I finally forced myself to leave after 8 nights, I could easily have stayed longer but having booked flights to Borneo I now have some sort of schedule so got to get moving.
