Woke up this morning and looked out the window of Sam's Town to a great view of the mountains with the sun rising over them. Great way to start the day!

We took Sam's Town's shuttle down to the strip to pay a visit to the Wynn. Mr. Wynn was very nice to use last time and we thought we could stop by there again and play a little...also, they have this buffet that is top rated everywhere in Las Vegas and I really wanted to go to that.

However, I didn't want to PAY for the buffet ($36 per person...yes, I hear my mother groaning right now!), so we signed up for player's cards which would let us get two free buffets after earning so many points. Well, Trip Advisor led me astray on this one. The points we needed to rack up would be 150 for my free Wynn buffet. Ugh! After a quick calculation of how fast our points were NOT adding up on the penny slots, we figured we could resort to Plan B...spin to win!

As new player card holders, we got a chance to spin the wheel (electronically) and win a free buffet, show tickets, $10 in slot play, etc. Okay, I tell the lady the only reason I'm here is for the food! She writes down my number and I give the wheel a spin....is the suspense killing you? I WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I won two tickets to see a show, Spamalot, which is a Monty Python musical. Okay, so I'm game for a free show. Now all my hopes are riding on Joe's spin of the wheel. He steps up to the wheel, he spins and...he WINS!

No buffet for Joan. Joe also won 2 tickets to Spamalot which we both decided we didn't want to see. They must have had an empty house that evening! LOL Ever the negotiator, I step up to the counter and get them to trade our 4 tickets for the show for $50 in free play on the slots. We play for a couple hours and walk away with about $30 of Mr. Wynn's money for the day - not bad.

We did go to the buffet...and paid for it! It was a once-in-a-lifetime treat. It was wonderful. I ate enough Alaskan King Crab legs to keep the men from Deadliest Catch in business until 2010! I sampled (one teaspon only as there was so much to try) so many new things that I've only heard about on Food Network! I had a wonderful dining experience. Joe stuck with the basics and desserts! I finally tried Creme Brulee...oh, la, la!

Back to Sam's Town for some much needed rest and a long swim in the pool. Tomorrow we tackle our 5 hour drive to the north rim of the Grand Canyon!

(P.S. We both agreed Las Vegas isn't where we would vacation for any length of time again...one day in the 100 degree heat and the noise of the strip is more than enough.)
