At last, an Internet connection! I am writing this in Kanab, Utah on June 10, because this is the first time I've been able to access the Internet.
Our flight out of GR was delayed by hours because of the huge storms moving through the area all week. We ran into retired DB Captain Dan K and his family at the airport. They were flying the same flights to Las Vegas. Dan walked me through the standby process and we were able to leave on an earlier flight, still about 2 hours behind schedule.
After landing in Milwaukee, we were advised of yet another delay. The long airport runway we needed to use was struck by lightening the day before and out of commission. The pilot had to dump some fuel so he could get us up in the air using the shorter runway...the bad news about that was we had to refuel in Texas, yes, that's right, Texas. Apparently Midwest doesn't own any gas stations between Milwaukee and Las Vegas! So, after waiting for our plane to arrive from Los Angeles, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, we were finally off to Las Vegas via Dallas/Fort Worth.
For those of you who will appreciate this, I want you to know I did flush the plane's toilet over Crawford, Texas. We can only hope I hit my mark!
We were late getting in and there were no rental cars available when we arrived. We stood in a hot garage waiting for someone to return a car so we could get to the hotel. Oh my, I was steaming, both physically and emotionally. We ended up getting to the room at 2:30 a.m. Las Vegas time. We were supposed to be in our room and vacationing at 6:00 p.m.! The best laid plans....
