We skip the cemetery and drive to Como.
The special thing about Como and Bellagio is the view. This is the part of the trip that I planned, so of course it's raining and cloudy the whole time, but there are more surprises ahead. We check into our hotel across a plaza from the lake. Great location and hotel. I eventually find the hotel parking which is behind another hotel, and on the way back, I ask at that hotel where I can catch the ferry to Bellagio. I had checked the schedule on line and printed it, but I missed that Sundays had only two ferries--one leaving for Bellagio in 5 minutes (11 a.m.) and one returning at 5 p.m. We run to the ferry and catch it.

Interesting views of mountains and towns on the edge of the lake, even in the rain.

At Bellagio, all of the hotels are closed, every damn one (they don't open until end of March). And the two main sites I hoped to see, Villa Melzi and its gardens and Rockefeller Bellagio Center (Villa Serbelloni), are closed. We spend lots of time searching for them, before confirming that they are closed. We're here in the rain for six hours, so we spend time climbing the various stairway streets (checking out shops) from the lake to the upper village, and then going back down, have lunch and do some more climbing until the ferry for Como arrives.

The lake is surrounded by mountains, and In the fog and rain, it looks like a fiord.
