We broke up an entirely too long train ride from Poland to Hungary with a 6 hour stay in Bratislava.  After an uneventful train ride through the heart of Slovokia, we arrived in Budapest.  Our first stop after dropping our bags at the hostel was, naturally, to proceed directly to the first Chinese restaurant we could find. I guess sometimes you just have a craving.

After some much needed rest, we rose today and headed to Center Market where we indulged in Strudel and fresh meat.  It wasn't long before an older Hungarian woman scolded Mark and I and called it ugly to be eating meat without any bread.  She seemed to be laughing at the end of her rant at least, which I can't say for the women in Poland who yelled at me.  It is always an interesting occurance when you get yelled at someone through sign language.

After two full weeks of carrying 50 pound packs on our backs and not sleeping on exaclty the highest quality mattresses I would be lying if I said we were in tip top shape.  Until this afternoon, that is, when we attended Gellert Furdo the most reknowned Turkish Bath House in Budapest.  We spent more than four hours moving between the effervescent pools of varying temperature mineral waters that are said to be some of the most healing in the world.  It felt that at any point some large Russian man was going to come over and begin negotiating the terms of some illicit contract while two ancient men in the corner of the bath house played a never ending game of chess. Unfortunately none of this happened, but we have been rejuvinated in both body and mind.  Tomorrow we depart for a night in Vienna before moving on to Munich.

Some random observations from the last few days:

I do not fit on the beds in sleeper car trains.
Even though I can't fit in the beds in sleeper car trains, I have developed the odd ability to sleep absolutely anywhere.
Chinese food in Hungary leaves a bit to be desired.
Every other kind of food has not let us down.
People in Europe have the right ideas when it comes to working....there were hundreds of locals at the baths today, and not one of them was on their blackberry communicating with the office.
