Where I stayed

Today was our day of relaxation.  We didn't get up until 9:30 this time, read on the porch for a bit, then went up to sit on the roof and have breakfast and espresso.  There was fresh orange juice which might just be the best I've ever had, and I must say that Italian breakfast buffets are much more delicious than American ones.  Also, prosciutto is amazing.

This seems to be a very relaxed town.  We were walking around, and all of the shops except for the restaurants were closed from 1-3 for lunch.  Every place we have been for food have expected us to stay and sit and drink for about 2 hours.  When we were only at dinner for an hour yesterday we were asked what scared us off.

There are quite a few specialty shops around here.  The two big things seem to be shoes and lemons.  There are at least 3 shoe shops where you go in and have sandals made for you.  I found one that had soles in my size, sat down, took off my shoes, and watched.  I picked out the type of heel I wanted.  Then the type of strap.  I asked if I could add a back to the sandal so it wasn't flopping around: of course! No extra charge even.  So I sat and waited while he built my shoes for me, having me try them on at every step to see if they were just right.  A little adjustment here, a little adjustment there, perfect! He nails everything in place and I walk of with custom shoes!

There is also a shop specializing in lemon.  They have lemon soap, lemon candles, HOME MADE limoncello (YUM) and homemade limoncello crema (YUM).  We went to the bar attached to the back to try the different limoncellos, OH MAN SO GOOD.  There is a delicious bakery as well, with lemon torte and other yummy things, and lots of cute little shops.

After some meandering we went down to the beach for a bit.  It's a black rock beach, so it's not really sand.  It's a bit sharper.  The water was chilly but nice, and we got beached once by a really big wave that came through and attacked.  It was fun though.

The only downside to this town: Oh god stairs.  There is one road and it is one way, so driving isn't really something you do.  Instead you walk up and down all sorts of stairs.

Tonight there are plans for a nice relaxing dinner and then taking our
bottle of wine and some plastic cups down to the beach, just to enjoy

So the sky just always looks beautiful in Italy?

The best part about the sky always looking beautiful? One of the ladies that worked at the hotel in Positano was saying we needed to come back again in July because the weather there was bad. I think there was about 15 minutes of drizzling rain one day....
