Checked into our hotel: fabulous. We haven't adventured around much, but the room has a huge bathtub and a bidet. Fancy!
So after checking in, we decided to go adventure and just wander around, trying to get our bearings. We found the Spanish steps, meandered to Piazza Navona, somehow ended up at the Trevi fountain and the Forum
We found the Pantheon, which is just humbling. We stopped for gelato (which is AMAZING: so much better than gelato in the US) near there, and in case I hadn't had enough sugar there's a thing called granita de cafe. It's like an espresso snow cone with whipped cream. NOM.
We continued to meander until we had absolutely no clue where we were, but we found a nice shady park to sit in for a bit. One thing that is amazing about this place is that there are drinking fountains everywhere. And by drinking fountains, I mean actual stone sculptures that spout drinking water, not just random mechanisms.
George and I are now thoroughly exhausted, and it's not even time for dinner. the 6 hour time difference is certainly a bit challenging. We essentially got up at 3AM to start the day. Now the goal is to stay awake as long as possible to try and beat the jet lag. But a little afternoon nap couldn't hurt, right?
