My flight went very well, except for the Tokyo Narita Bushmills incident. I'd bought a liter bottle of Bushmills at the duty free in New York to bring as a present. The Japanese made us go through security before our connecting flight from Tokyo to Beijing. They insisted that I could not bring any liquid through to the next flight, despite the fact that it was bought in the terminal and everything had been cleared through security. Both me and a young woman in front of me (who had several much more expensive items from the duty free) were instructed to "go out into Japan. Go through customs, then you can check in for the flight, check bottle, come back through security." We only had an hour before the next flight, and I had no interest in going out to Japan. I ended up giving the bottle to a couple stewardesses, while the other woman ran out. We never saw her again.
They seperated an Irishman from a nice bottle of whiskey...
