I woke up extra early to decorate the room a little for Sarah's 10th birthday.  She got most of her birthday gifts early because of the trip, but we gave her a few more at the inn.

Our primary goal today was to find some wild blueberries to pick.  We were not disappointed!  The kids picked about a quart along a roadside and they were very tasty.

We stopped at the Downeast Salmon Federation Hatchery in East Machias, ME.  We were given a tour and learned a lot about the local salmon.  Really nice people!!!  We were the only ones there and it was well worth the trip.

Ok, here it is...the part of the trip where I lost it.  Matt wanted to take the hike to view Culter Coast.  This hike is NOT for someone like me.  I walk VERY slowly and get VERY frustrated when my entire hiking party leaves me completely behind.  The hike is rated "easy," but it is almost 1.5 miles (which feels like 10 miles) round trip.  I was totally p!$$@& by the time I caught up with them.  It was very foggy and we could not see much.  Ok, I have to admit the smell of the mini pine forest, the cute woodpecker, and the fact that it was cool how the fog would move in and out when I finally reached the cliffs.  But after this I said, "I will NOT EVER hike with you three again!"  I know I'll have to retract that when we head to Alaska and back to Yellowstone.

For dinner we had only one thing in mind...Whole Maine Lobster!  I picked up some candles and had arranged for Sarah's lobster to come to the table clutching the candles.  The gals at Harbor Girl Emporium and Café were thrilled to oblige.  The girls went out with our cook, thanked the lobsters for giving their lives for our meal and watched the lobsters plunge into the cooking pot.  When the meal was ready, everyone in the restaurant sang "Happy Birthday" to Sarah.  It was an awesome night.
After dinner Sarah and I went out to create rock sculptures.  It was a peaceful ending to a great day.
