Hello All!
This week has been fun.  On the Monday after Easter is Italy's National Picnic Day!  Everyone either has a BBQ at their house or goes to their local park for a day of picnicking, eating, and playing soccer and other games.  We packed up some food, bought a soccer ball, packed a blanket and headed to our park.  We played some soccer games for a while before and after eating some sandwiches and a chocolate Easter egg from our chef, Monica. Some of us (myself included) chilled for a while reading while others passed the soccer ball around some more. It was a really relaxing day!

Thursday after my Philosophy final (I'm officially done with Philosophy forever!) we headed to Cinecittą. Cinecittą is like the Paramount Studios of Italian Cinema.  It has been around since the early 1900s and was used by many of the great Italian filmmakers such as Fellini.  We take Italian Cinema as a course here so it was really cool to see where some of the movies were filmed.  It's really strange to see set not being used that could be in so many films.  We walked through the fake Roman forum and ancient Greece all in one day!  They were even filing a Fiat commercial while we were there!  We walked through the set of Gangs of New York and we even got to go into the "submarine" were Matthew Mcconaughey filmed U-571.  It was a really cool day.

Sunday is the Canonization of two former Popes, Pope John Paul II and John XXIII, which means they are becoming saints.  It is the first double Canonization and an estimated 4 million people are pilgrimaging to Rome... therefore we will not be leaving our dorm Sunday because public transportation will be impossible.  But it is still cool to say that we were in Rome when two Pope became saints.

As of Friday, we only had one week left here in Rome... very sad to think about, but at the same time I am excited to come home.  Time to enjoy my last week here in the Eternal City!
