How do I begin?
After a month and a half, Eric finally hopped on a plane to visit me! I woke up early Thursday morning and set off to the Metro station.  I then took the Metro to the train station where I hopped on the 30 minute train to the airport.  After struggling to find arrivals I finally stood and waited, watching all the people come through customs until he finally arrived! We then hopped on a bus that brought us to the Metro and dropped off his things to his hotel.  He surprised me with airheads and Frozen! We anxiously set out to the Vatican to see how much we could fit in on Thursday.  We were able to climb to the top of St. Peter's Dome and see the entire inside of St. Peter's Basilica. We then got lunch and tried to go to the Vatican museums but that was closed for the day.  So instead we did some Vatican Souvenir shopping for a while and then went to Assumption's campus so he could meet everyone, especially Doctor Keely!, and see the building.  We then set out to the Spanish Steps area for dinner.  Unfortunately they had closed the Spanish Steps for some reason so we couldn't go on them but we saw them!  We ate outside at one of the fire restaurants for dinner, which was really nice and something I don't ever do.  We later went to Campo de Fiori with the rest of the kids from Assumption for a while to end the night.

On Friday we headed first to the Colosseum. We got to walk around the Colosseum and I got to show off a bit of knowledge I had learn a few weeks earlier during a tour... which wasn't very much.  We then walked to Palatine Hill, which foolish me thought was a grassy hill with a view of Rome- I was wrong.  It is basically an old city that has tons of buildings and plaques telling you what each building is... we of course read almost every single one... you could say I was exhausted by the end!  We then saw the Roman Forum before walking to the Campidoglio where I actually got to be a tour guide because I just gave a 30 minute presentation on it!  We then had lunch (outside again!) and headed to the Vatican Museums before they closed.  We saw the majority of the Museum, even the Egyptian Room!  It ended of course in the Sistine Chapel which we weren't allowed to take pictures of sadly.  We did some more Vatican Shopping before heading to dinner!  We ate near the Trevi Fountain, so naturally we went to see it before dinner.  The Trevi Fountain is way more beautiful at night than during the day!  After that we headed to a very nice fire restaurant again where we could hear the fountain in the background.  The food was of course delicious!

On Saturday we set out early to see the Trevi Fountain first during the day.  We threw in our US quarters, which tradition states that we will one day return to Rome.  We then walked to the Pantheon to walk around the inside.  We found a restaurant in view of the Pantheon to eat lunch at!  We then walked to a church that had a very famous statue that is an inside joke of those who took History of Western Civilization... it was a funny surprise.  We then walked to the Spanish Steps which were again open to the public to take pictures and so I could show Eric my Italian school.  We then headed back in the direction of the Trevi Fountain to souvenir shop for his family!  It was a long day of walking!  For dinner we ate at a very popular restaurant that was incredibly busy and had delicious food... although they put cheese slices in my salad even though I told them in two languages that I can't eat cheese.  Other than that the food was delicious.

Sadly the weekend flew by and it was suddenly Sunday morning and we were heading to the airport.  We narrowly missed a train to the airport... and by that I mean we could have made it if the train worker wouldn't have been such a jerk and let us jump on a monte before it left.  Regardless we made it to the airport and he made his flights perfectly and is now safe and home in the US.  The weekend sadly flew by but it was the most perfect weekend of my life.
