Yesterday was a very busy day which is why I didn't post. It was my first day of classes! We started by taking the Metro (subway) to the Spanish Steps, passed them, and walked down the main road to our Italian school, Italiaidea. While the students who have never taken Italian before started learning, myself and three others took a brief placement test. It consisted of a three monte conversation and a 100 word short essay. We then got to leave early and explored the streets around the Spanish Steps... which are way too expensive for my budget. We then went back to the dorm and had lunch and went to our next lesson, Art history. I am doing an independent study because I already took Renaissance Art. We later ate dinner and went to our final class at 8;30 P.M., Italian Cinema. yes we watched a movie that late at night without falling asleep... or a miracle.
Today, after eating the delicious breakfast cake our chef Monica made, we had our first Philosophy class. After class, myself and six others decided to walk about two miles to the Vatican where we took pictures and climbed to the top of the Dome of St. Peter's Basilica (All 551 stairs). It was gorgeous because halfway up you end up on a ledge inside the top of the basilica and get to look at the hand-made mosaics. After many wide, narrow, steep inclines, and sideways staircases we made it to the top! (See pictures). Once we got down we ate a quick lunch (a sugar donut for me)... went in a few gift shops, walked home, and went to our Theology class. Dinner is soon and then its homework because have so little time to do it. You could say we are all feeling those stairs now.
