Today was a good day for visiting the sites. The sun was out most of the day and only light breeze. After breakfast (p/s I think I am finally adjusting to the local yogurt, it tasted quite good today) we went to the home of Mary, mother of Jesus. Not much to see really- maybe skip it unless you are on a pilgrimage tour or a big fan of Mary. Next was Efes (Ephesus). I wandered around on my own mostly and finished about half hour or so before the group so I hung out with the drivers. They all had their shoes polished (remember I mentioned about the shoes? LOL) and we drank Turkish Tea. Man is that stuff strong! Tea and coffee are consumed 24 hours a day. If you see a Turk without a cigarette or a glass of tea he either just finished or is waiting for server to come by with one. After Efes, we visited the temple of John the Baptist where he was buried. They claim that if fully restored it would be the 7th largest temple in the WORLD. Tomorrow we are leaving early morning again and heading inland (east) where we are to expect fog and/or sleet. Then for the next 2 days- snow. I should have packed better...I've been cold since I got here and this is expected to be the warmest part of the entire trip!
