We started our cruise with a breakfast buffet where we met our table-mates, a couple from Belgium who unfortunately could not speak much English or really partake in the conversations, and Paul and Pat Logan, a great couple from Toronto, Canada, we spent hours sitting and chatting and had a great time together on the cruise.
This was followed by the obligatory safety instructions and then we could either relax or watch various demonstrations in massage (Pat won a freebie), acupuncture and brush painting. Over the course of the cruise there were all sorts of demos as well as Taiji morning exercises for the early risers. We only make it up that early when there are a number of alarm clocks and a good reason, like going on an excursion.
Our first excursion was on our first afternoon to Fengdu Ghost Town
That evening was the Captain's welcome reception and dinner where we were treated to local sparkling wine, a speech from the captain and a SUMPTUOUS Chinese banquet.

Fengdu Ghost Town - East King
. This immediately congers up images of deserted towns with creaking doors and tumbleweed blowing in the wind. Wrong! This ghost town is exactly what it says it is, a place of ghosts, evil and hell. Progressing to each higher level of the hill required us to pass tests and take part in games to ensure we did not fall prey to the evil spirits. Thankfully we all made it :-) We passed through a number of temples and looked at the statues of Buddas along the way before reaching the top where we were rewarded with a final temple along with a pretty impressive pagoda and a view of the surrounding countryside. That evening was the Captain's welcome reception and dinner where we were treated to local sparkling wine, a speech from the captain and a SUMPTUOUS Chinese banquet.
