We spent the next 3 nights in Beijing celebrating Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) with some really warm and friendly people.
Fortunately for us we were booked into the hotel where most of the services were taking place so did not have far to go or difficulty in finding our way there :-)
On First Night we attended the Chabad services and then took part in the delicious communal meal. Between each course the Rabbi was either talking to us, getting everyone singing, or a bit of both. As it turned out, the table we were at was the last to leave (be kicked out by the cleaners!).
On the First Day we had been invited to lunch and supper with Jo and DJ Schneeweiss and their gorgeous twins, Tali and Ben. DJ is the Israeli under-Ambassador in China so we spent a really nice day with them at their home in the Israeli Embassy.
We spent the Second Day and Friday night with Chabad and again met some very warm and friendly people and were treated to a delicious Friday Night supper.
Thanks to Chabad and all the Beijing people we met we had a really wonderful Rosh Hashanah and Shabbat in a city far from home.
