We were literally passing through Beijing on our way to Mongolia so just time for a quick walk down to our favourite street market for a bite to eat (Yum!) and then off to bed before an early flight to Ulaanbaatar.
 
The sights at the street market were quite something; we saw stalls selling skewers of something. On closer inspection we discovered there were skewers of various meats as well as of scorpions, lizards, sea horses and star fish! If we had any doubt about eating weird things in China this confirmed them, enough to turn anyone vegetarian!!!
