This trip was also a first for me. It was our first trip to South Africa since Annie and I had to rush out there a year ago when my father died very suddenly and sadly. We had had his first Yhartzeit (anniversary according to the Jewish calendar) while we were travelling and the anniversary according to the Gregorian calendar while we were in London.
As is custom, we had an "unveiling" of his tombstone while we were in Durban.
Afterwards a few people came back to my mothers flat for tea and to chat. Then we, along with our cousins, John and Tessa and Katie (Kim was missing), and Susan's business partner Grant and Tracey, went for lunch somewhere my Dad would have really enjoyed, Buds on the Bay, a restaurant on the quiet side of the harbour and Durban Yacht Club in a really beautiful setting.
